Alison is a Canberra based artist who loves colour, gardens and animals and has had a life of drawing, painting (acrylics, oils & encaustic) & sculpting. She has had a life-long love affair with glass, and has an extensive collection of hand-blown glass – Australian and Venetian.
Alison finds the luscious colours and textures available in glass are music for her eyes. She also enjoys finding unusual bits and pieces to incorporate into her works – quirky pottery, bits of old jewellery, natural objects, shells, and unusual tiles and handmade glass pieces.
As Ali is always on the look-out for different items to incorporate into her work, she thought that others may be too. So, Merlin Mosaica was born!
After a professional life in the IT arena, Alison has employed her familiarity with the internet and overseas connections to seek out interesting items that you may find enticing.
The collection is Absolutely Australian, Definitely Different.
The Name – the Logo
This venture is named after our dear departed Merlin – a beautiful, brown Burmese, who was a much-loved part of our lives for 17 years and checked out everything we did. He was the typically curious cat, and a real smooch – he is very much missed.
Whilst he could be very elegant, he was often rather clumsy. We have chosen to remember his elegant persona as our logo.
Hank was Merlo’s understudy, and has embraced his role as chief inspector (and shredder) of boxes!
